On the morning of October 13, a delegation led by Sun Haifeng, General Manager of the Science, Technology and Design Management Department of China Northwest Municipal Engineering Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CNMEDRI"), visited the School of Transportation at Southeast University. Attending the symposium were Ma Tao, Dean of the School of Transportation at Southeast University; Ding Jianming, Director of the Landscape Bridge Research Center at Southeast University and Advisory Chief Professional Engineer of the Architectural Design & Research Institute of Southeast University; Zhang Hang, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice Dean of the School of Transportation; Hua Xuedong, Vice Dean of the School; Yu Bin, Director of the Department of Smart Road and Airport Engineering; Song Xiaodong, Director of the Department of Bridge Engineering; among others.

Dean Ma Tao welcomed the delegation led by Sun Haifeng and introduced the School of Transportation's general profile in terms of disciplinary layout, research platforms, and talent cultivation system. He noted that CNMEDRI, as the "national team" in municipal infrastructure consulting and design, possesses profound expertise in whole-life-cycle infrastructure business and rich engineering scenarios, offering broad prospects for cooperation with the School in scientific research, achievement transformation, and talent supply.General Manager Sun Haifeng introduced CNMEDRI's development history, business layout, and overall progress in scientific and technological innovation. Founded in 1959, CNMEDRI is now a large comprehensive design and consulting enterprise controlled by China State Construction Engineering Corporation, having won over 800 awards, including the Zhan Tianyou Award and provincial/ministerial-level prizes or above. In recent years, the institute has continuously strengthened its technological deployment in smart transportation, green and low-carbon development, digitalization, and other directions. He stated that the School of Transportation at Southeast University boasts outstanding disciplinary strengths and profound research accumulation in transportation engineering, and expressed the hope that this exchange would serve as an opportunity to promote substantive cooperation between the two sides in joint research projects, collaborative award applications, and high-level talent cultivation.At the symposium, the two sides held in-depth exchanges on core topics including the co-construction of research institutes, industry-university-research cooperation, and school-enterprise joint cultivation, reaching preliminary consensus in multiple directions. Regarding research collaboration, both parties agreed to leverage the School's strengths in basic research and CNMEDRI's engineering practice scenarios, exploring cooperation mechanisms for jointly applying for research projects and commissioned projects (horizontal projects) in interdisciplinary areas such as smart transportation, intelligent operation and maintenance of road infrastructure, and urban resilience construction. Regarding talent cultivation, both sides discussed cooperation forms including the establishment of joint graduate training bases, participation of enterprise mentors in supervision, and employment recommendation for outstanding graduates. CNMEDRI will, in line with its recruitment plans and research platform conditions, provide practical projects and career development pathways for high-level talents from the School.Both sides expressed their commitment to taking this symposium as a starting point, establishing a regular working liaison mechanism, further strengthening communication and collaboration, and jointly building a school-enterprise collaborative, complementary industry-university-research cooperation framework.
